So you might expect manual jobs to be taken by the bots, and perhaps even jobs involving mental calculations or repetitive tasks, but surely the wishy-washy creative jobs such as journalism are safe, right? Right?

Not so fast. As it turns out, being a writer for, say, an entertainment website is not the creative coalface that we'd like to think, as it is now possible to generate certain news stories using computers.

News writing bots such as Automated Insights and Narrative Science are able to generate news stories using raw data. The Associated Press and Fox News' Big Ten Network both use it to report everything from sports results to business reports.

These aren't just strings of numbers either, they read like proper, if dry, articles written by humans. It's essentially like one of those bullsh*t generators, but with actual facts to back it up.

Sure, it probably couldn't produce a work to rival Shakespeare (yet), but if you are able to offload the dullest news pieces to a machine, what are you going to give to the interns?
