8 Mind-Blowing Bits Of Sci-Fi Tech That You Will Live To See

4. Bringing Back Extinct Animals

Okay, so Jurassic Park turned out to be a bit of a fiasco, but that hasn't put scientists off their quest to revive an extinct species. We're talking, of course, about the Wooly Mammoth. Due to the wonderful preservation properties of ice, many wooly mammoths frozen into the permafrost still have their hair, skin, flesh and even blood still basically intact. This has allowed us to build up a database of mammoth DNA that could well be viable for cloning. The technology to clone extinct species is currently so close, that we are now at the stage of debating the ethics of it, as opposed to the practicalities alone. If we can figure out the morality of the experiments in the next decade or so, we could well be seeing a living breathing mammoth walking the Earth for the first time in thousands of years. The only problem then, is figuring out where to keep it.
