8 Sinister Real-Life Methods Of Mind Control

5. Toxoplasma Gondii

Moving away from horrendous acts of manipulation, to an all-organic kind of mind control. Toxoplasma gondii is a single celled parasitic organism that is capable of infecting virtually any warm-blooded animal. Despite this, T. gondii is only capable of reproducing inside cats, something about them felines just really gets them going I guess. So, how do they get their hands on those sexy cats? By driving rats around like little kamikaze pilots, that's how. When rats become infected with T. gondii, they're forced to act in a way that makes them more likely to get eaten, hanging out near cat pee and slowing down their reaction times. Even more concerning is the statistic that around 30€“50% of humans are estimated to be chronically infected. Whilst this doesn't have quite the same effect on humans as it does on rats, forcing humans to jump into tiger enclosures or something, the parasite has been associated with an array of neurological disorders, including schizophrenia. Whether these mind-control powers can be manipulated by humans for a nefarious purpose remains to be seen. It might be useful in creating a super-race of cat lovers, if nothing else.
