8 Things You Do Every Day That Could Kill You

7. Taking Selfies

Okay, short of your smartphone exploding in your face, the actual selfie is not a cause of death in the same way as, say, bleeding out from a bear attack, but it's what you might call an "underlying cause". Since their meteoric rise in popularity, some people have been going to great lengths and taking great risks in the pursuit of the perfect instagram shot. So far in 2016 alone, selfies have caused the deaths of at least nine people (and one dolphin), many of who drowned or fell to their deaths in the attempt. Wikipedia's informal list of selfie-related deaths gives you an idea of the carnage and stupidity. Whilst most people will fall off something high, accidentally shoot themselves, get hit by a moving vehicle or get caught by the tide, there are also many reports of people attempting to pose with dangerous animals such as bears, snakes and even rampaging bulls.
