The planet TrES-2b is an entry on this list that is frightening on a more fundamental level, in that it is an incredibly ominous-looking place.

TrEs-2b has been officially dubbed the darkest planet ever discovered by NASA. This planet reflects less than 1% of all light that hits it. This is partially due to the light-absorbing gasses that occupy most of the planet's surface. Even so, astronomers are still not exactly sure how this planet manages to be as uncannily dark as it is.

What's more is that in addition to being incredibly dark, TrES-2b is also incredibly hot. The planet glows deep red, as its surface is a blistering 2012 degrees Fahrenheit (or 1100 degrees Celsius.)

While this planet would make a fitting base of operations for Star Wars' Kylo Ren, when commercial intergalactic travel becomes a reality in the distant future, it's safe to assume that TrES-2b will not be a very popular vacation spot. And pilots should really do their best to avoid accidentally hitting it.
