What a lot of people don't take into account when we talk about the conflicting views on climate change, is that the people who tell you it isn't happening have a lot to lose if it is. The trouble with data is that its very easy to manipulate to fit with the thing you want to prove.

The scientific community is in 97% consensus that climate change is definitely a thing. There have been a few studies that have come to the conclusion that climate change is not being caused by the burning of fossil fuels, but if you look very closely, you might find that the people funding that research tend to be the people who make a lot of money out of the burning of fossil fuels.

Even in the face of the overwhelming evidence in favour of climate change, this teeny tiny dissenting voice from the fossil fuel lobby is enough for the media to whip up into a frenzy and sell papers about.

It doesn't help that you have you ten-a-penny rent-a-clowns like Donald Trump claiming that climate change was invented by the Chinese to keep the US economy down as it just adds fuel to the fire. Its not like anyone with even half a cortex would take anything the evil pig in a wig says seriously, but it just turns us into a society that tolerates that kind of drivel.
