8 Ways JK Rowling Could Continue The Harry Potter Series

2. Harry Potter And The Fact That All The Other Characters Are More Interesting

While J.K. Rowling€™s writing skills have occasionally been called into question, there€™s not a soul in the world who can disagree with the fact that her characters are brilliantly crafted and conveyed; the strength of the Harry Potter series lies not in the fantastical world, but in the very real people who populate it. Following that, a fascinating and very open-ended way to continue the series could be to pick a character who we don€™t see too much of in Harry Potter itself, and follow his or her adventures in the Wizarding World after Harry€™s epic story finishes. This could be anybody at all, from the much beloved Professor Longbottom to a random Hogwarts student who is vaguely acquainted with Harry€™s children. The thing with Harry Potter is that literally any character could easily step up to this plate and we would have a witty, interesting and fully-realized protagonist. Why not Oliver Wood, the Quidditch-crazed former Gryffindor Captain? Or else the brilliant Minerva McGonagall, wryly chronicling her time teaching a new generation of Hogwarts students (and, anyway, who doesn€™t need more Maggie Smith in their lives)? George Weasley, who goes back to his joke shop while trying to deal with the very personal fallout of the war. Luna Lovegood and her wacky post-war travels to find the elusive Crumple-Horned Snorkacks would be an instant hit. Really, a series of short snippets of stories, in the vein of The Tales of Beedle the Bard, that gives us small insights into the lives of much-loved Harry Potter characters who weren€™t afforded as much screen-time in the books would be a brilliant follow-up to the series without anyone feeling as though the integrity of the original is being in any way compromised.
