The grand-daddy of everyday endurance, they don't come much more mind-numbing than public transport. Insufferable odours, uncomfortable heat and the repetitive "bm tssh bm tssh bm tssh" of your EDM-loving carriage companion's in-ear entertainment. Oh, how things will change when we're all wearing holographic helmets. It's not a tube, it's the old favourite €“ a runaway mine train! Or, there's no train at all: how strange to be surfing under London. On a chair. In a suit. Or just keep it simple: you're not underground at all, but riding the Flying Scotsman in steamy style. Air travel, too, would be revolutionised. Forget those dinky screens for in-flight entertainment €“ the future is right in front of your face. Flights would be cheaper because planes would be cheaper: who needs windows when the world of virtual reality can make like there are no walls at all? Just you, soaring through the sky, alone in your chair but for the birds and the bees. That friendly person bringing you drinks? Just a passing Penguin (what?
