You're walking down the street when, 10 feet ahead of you, you spot that guy. You know, whatsername's boyfriend, you met at a housewarming party, you had dinner with them. You should definitely know, but you can't for the life of you remember his name. It's too late, he's spotted you. You settle for "hey buddy" and then leave feeling like a terrible person. Sheep, on the other hand, can quickly and easily recognise other members of their herd. Researchers have found using brain scans that those wooly socialites can recognise up to 50 sheep faces and retain the memory for as long as two years. As well as this, experts have found that sheep will quickly notice if a member of their flock is missing. If you've ever been in charge of a children's party, you'll know that this is no mean feat. It seems that there's a lot more going on in the minds of sheep than we give them credit for. They have even been known to utilize medicinal herbs in order to ward off conditions such as intestinal worms and, disturbingly, some with poor diets have even been known to take "vitamin supplements" by biting off the legs of living chicks in order to access the phosphorus in their bones.
