9 Best Smartwatches You Must Buy In 2016

8. Jawbone UP3

The much-delayed Jawbone UP3 came at a price and a bit of disappointment but with the latest firmware updates It's grown on its critics. Many would say that £129 band just didn't do enough to justify its price. Luckily, its recent software updates have delivered some saving graces to the device which make it perfect for the person on the go. At launch, its heart rate monitor only measured resting heart rate€”while RHR (resting heart rate) is an important health indicator, it was silly to include a heart rate monitor in an activity tracker and limit its usefulness so much. With software updates, the monitor takes your heart rate measurement every so often throughout the day to give you a picture of your average pulse rate. But compared to cheaper devices like the Fitbit Charge HR and the Garmin Vivosmart HR, the Up3 just can't compete. Jawbone's eagerness to create an all-encompassing tracking device fell on their face in 2015 and device didn't live up to its waterproof plans. It is, however, a rather solid step up from its predecessor, the Jawbone UP24. While that particular model has itself been replaced by the UP2, the UP3 adds a heart rate sensor, skin and ambient temperature sensors, and galvanic skin response measurements. I think the plus of the UP range is that it comes with a powerful UP app which - if you allow it to - can pretty much control your life, from a natural wake up system through to monitoring the different types of foods you eat. It is a great one if you're into getting into shape after having one too many Christmas dinners.
