9 Dangerous Things Governments Can’t Seem To Keep Safe

2. A Deadly Virus

Deadly Virus In March 2013 a vial containing an exotic virus was discovered to be missing from a lab in Texas. The virus, known as Guanarito, is originally from Venezuela. If contracted it causes haemorrhaging, high temperatures and convulsions. It is believed to kill around a quarter of all those that become infected. The vial was one of five kept in a maximum security lab and was only found to be missing after a routine check. Officials have stated that they don€™t think that there is a risk to the public. However there are fears that if the virus strain has been stolen it could be weaponized and used as a bioterror agent. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention revealed that is receives a number of reports of lost viruses or toxins every year. But most losses are put down to the agent being accidently destroyed.
