9 Drinking Games People Were Playing Centuries Ago

1. Bloody Buttocks

Where it was played: This deadly competition began in 17th century England toward the end of the Civil War. How it was played: The Laughing Cavalier (pictured above) would not have been so smug if he was present at a particular ale house in Milton, Berkshire, in May 1650. In a drunken stupor, a gang of royalists 'out of zeale of affection to their King' began making toasts to the monarchy... with cupfuls of blood. The source of the blood was their own sliced-open buttocks. While competitively one-upping each other in their displays of loyalty to the crown, one man had resorted to turning the knife on himself, and the others had followed. The gruesome game came to an end when they were forced to call a surgeon for one man who was bleeding excessively. Please do not try this game at home! No one wants to see this particular drinking dare on Youtube.
