2. Attention Span

According to a recent Canadian study, the average human attention span is about 8 seconds, which is one second less than a goldfish. What's worse, is that this has fallen by four seconds since the pre-smartphone era in the year 2000.

It is thought that, whilst sustained attention is on the decline, heavy social media users are more used to "intermittent bursts of high attention," which may have actually improved our ability to multitask, supported by the report from a US study in which 79% of respondents said they regularly "dual screen" by using portable devices while watching TV - so it's not all bad news.

Take this (mercifully short) test to see how your attention span measures up ... if you can focus for long enough.
