One year after the modern incarnation of Mini Figs hit the market, they reached an important juncture in their evolution. Before 1979, every one of the Danish company's male characters wore hats because LEGO hair didn't exist.

The Lego Group began developing hairpieces for its figurines that year, and there are now countless style and colour variations available.

Like its hats and other head-based accessories, LEGO hairpieces clip onto the solitary stud atop of the Mini Fig's noodle, which has a hole in it to prevent choking in the event of a small child (or big kid) accidentally swallowing it.
