9 Ways Science Is Changing The Future Of Warfare

8. Exoskeletons

We might be some way off a full-on Iron Man suit that will allow us to create the super-soldier of the future, but military researchers are definitely getting there. DARPA projects into the world of the military exoskeleton are developing heavy-duty suits that enable the wearer to lift incredibly heavy loads. This is the technology in its infancy, but it could potentially one day transform our soldiers into individual tanks with super-strength, heavy armouring and deadly weapons. Couple this with computerised on board systems that could help in decision making, surveillance and combat and you've got yourself a deadly, wearable weapon. Away from the battlefield, exoskeletons can be used to rehabilitate injured veterans, and could even one day help the paralysed to walk again.
