Best & Worst Kids Toys Of The 80s & 90s

Cabbage Patch Kids

Cabbage Patch KidsWhat?: The longest running doll franchise in the history of toys originally called The Little People. Unlike many later kids dolls The Cabbage patch Kids were entirely made of cloth and started life as craft show curios - which in my opinion is where they should have remained. The 'Kids' were discovered by a 10 year old boy named Xavier who followed a 'BunnyBee' behind a waterfall into a magical valley where he found them being born (bleurgh). To prevent them being enslaved by some crazy old bitch named Lavendar (sic) Xavier kidnaps the Kids and gave them away for adoption to families in need of their own weird little vegetable children. How lovely. Watch this commercial for the toys and be amazed by how stupid the kid's parents and grandparents actually were - "Look, genuine adoption papers". Ya think? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YYh3KGhhjic Not to be confused with: The Garbage Pail Kids Who?: The real life Xavier Roberts is to blame for these creepy little bastards but it was Coleco and later Hasbro that brought them to the masses. Thanks guys. Amusement Factor: I'm sure my sister got a massive kick out of having these almost certainly Demonic little babies living in her room but for me it was nothing short of terrifying. I hadn't seen the Child's Play movies at this point and I'm pretty sure I had no idea who Chucky was but if I had I would have been less scared of him than my sister's talking Cabbage Patch Doll, and added to the fact that the evil Lavendar McDade and her henchmen Cabbage Jack and Beau Weasel could turn up at any minute to reclaim the stolen child just made life in the 1980's that bit more terrifying. Awesome Rating: Hi, my name's Chucky. Wanna play?
