Coppercab: Ginger Man on a Mission or Troll?

When Trey Parker sat down to write the South Park episode "Ginger Kids", he had no idea that its airing would give birth to one of the most talked about viral videos ever created. Its November 9th 2005. Comedy Central just aired an episode in which Eric Cartman delivers a speech stating that people with red hair (or "Gingers") have no soul. At an undisclosed location somewhere in America - a seed is planted in a young mans mind. The episode in question came to the attention of world media in 2008 after reports of school bullying came to light. The reports suggested that the bullying had been inspired by the episode. This in turn led to the creation of a Facebook group and event entitled "National Kick a Ginger Day, are you going to do it?". Over 20,000 Facebook users joined the group. Fast-foward to January 14th 2010. That young man (real name Michael) uploads a video onto his Youtube account under the username COPPERCAB. The video is entitled "GINGERS DO HAVE SOULS". (At the time of writing - the upload has had almost 26 million views) After an initial flood of comments (showing both support and condemnation) he began to upload videos fairly consistantly adressing both his supporters and critics. The content of his uploads are a heady mixture of swearing and anger which only seems to spur on his mixed audience, which in turn fuels the Coppercab flame. The video responses and parody videos based on his initial upload bagan to grow in number aswell, with Youtubers uploading their own take on Coppercab's outrage. South Park even animated a short promotional video for season 14 where Eric Cartman appears as Coppercab and delivers his "Gingers do have souls" rant. In true style Coppercab retaliated with another upload showing his disgust for the show. The saga took a bizarre turn around August 2011 when hackers took over Coppercab's channel and 'locked him out'. Forced to set-up a new channel - viewers saw a different side of Michael as he begged and pleaded for the hackers to return control of the channel to him. His Grandmother (who we had only previously caught brief sights of) even posted a video where she threatens to call the "Internet Police" if control is not returned. From the outset : the original video appears to be the venting of a frustrated redhead, a call to arms to all those who have fallen victim to the namecalling and bullying, but many critics believe that this hero for the downtrodden is a really a "troll" in ginger sheeps clothing. It's easy to see why, given that significant Youtube views garner monetary reward. Either Coppercab is a commited character actor with the brain of a comedy genius, or just a confused and angry young man. You decide; http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EY39fkmqKBM
