The Gigantoraptor's intimidating title appears to be some kind of PR stunt that belies its frankly dorky appearance. That said, at eight metres long, four metres tall and a top speed fast enough to out run most predators, perhaps this chicken from hell is scarier than its happy little face in the picture above suggests. Close inspection of Gigantoraptor fossils have revealed that these guys were pretty scrappy, with one showing evidence of a broken rib, and another sporting an arthritic toe caused by a tendon being ripped out. Potentially by the cruel beak of a fellow Gigantoraptor. Experts aren't exactly sure what this thing ate as it has no teeth and a long neck, like a herbivore, but two razor sharp claws like a carnivore. For now we'll have to just presume the answer is "whatever the hell it wants".
