Every Stephen King Novel Ranked Worst To Best
3. The Shining
Regarded as perhaps the greatest horror novel of the 20th century, The Shining solidified Stephen King's place as the Master of Horror and a literary juggernaut destined to only get bigger. Despite all the parodies, adaptations and wild imitations, The Shining is still every bit as terrifying and meticulous as it was when it was released in 1977.
It has it all: fully-formed characters, a creepy and remote setting, a young boy with psychic abilities, an antagonist who is also a deeply troubled family man.
The Shining is King at his best, and it speaks volumes about his last two projects that it isn't number one on this list.
