Harry Potter: 10 Most Underrated Chapters

5. The Missing Mirror – The Deathly Hallows

Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets Cover
Warner Bros.

Chapter Synopsis: After some shady journalism from Rita Skeeter, Aberforth finally reveals the truth about his brother.

Rita Skeeter’s biography of Hogwarts’ greatest headmaster, The Life and Lies of Albus Dumbledore, raised a lot of questions for many people, including Harry. But the truth isn’t revealed until the latter stages of The Deathly Hallows, when Harry, Ron, and Hermione are ushered into the Hog’s Head by Dumbledore’s brother.

Here, Aberforth talks about his upbringing, focusing on his brother’s relationship with Gellert Grindelwald, his sister’s troubled mental state, and the death of his mother.

This is also the first time we get to experience Aberforth directly. Yes, he crops up briefly in The Order of the Phoenix, but he was simply the Hog’s Head barman back then – no one knew he was Dumbledore’s brother. Whilst he isn’t the most likeable of characters, it is interesting to observe the key differences between Aberforth and his legendary brother.
