Though it's the shortest of the Harry Potter books, J.K. Rowling’s debut novel contains plenty of detail and intrigue. Indeed, compared with the majority of children’s books, The Philosopher’s Stone has a remarkably rich setting and plot, as well as a large cast of characters.
