Toy Story Land: 5 Ups And 4 Downs

1. It Could Be More

What Culture

Toy Story Land is a great area and does a good job, but there's a few little things that might have helped it be just that extra bit special.

I really loved the Green Army Men walking around but spotting them appears to be a matter of chance. It would be great if they could have done something similar to the March of the First Order, where their appearance could be a bigger occasion and shown on the times guide. The same goes for the character meet and greets, which unlike at Pixar Place don't yet have a permanent home. It feels like a small oversight to not have a permanent place to meet Woody, Buzz and Jessie.

I loved the singing Wheezy at Slinky Dog Dash, and the talking Mr Potato Head has once again returned to Toy Story Mania. It's a shame that these things are limited to those who go on the rides. Over in Tokyo DisneySea, Mr Potato Head isn't hidden away inside the ride queue, but out in the open. It would have been nice to have had something similar in Hollywood Studios.

Although the food is family friendly and unique, it's also kinda limited to sandwiches. I get that it's meant to be the sort of food that Andy might find in his lunch box, but even branching out into a wrap or an Entree sized salad would have broadened the menu out slightly.

My main issue with the limited range is that the food in Hollywood Studios as a whole isn't the best at the moment. Many quick service areas have closed, leaving a sparse selection to choose from. It's a shame Andy's Mom didn't give him a greater selection of food in his lunch box.

Despite the few downs, I genuinely did have a great time in Toy Story Land.

It's fun for the whole family, which was Walt Disney's overall aim for Disneyland. No, it was never going to be the marquee land for this park, we've got that to come with Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge. Toy Story Land delivers everything it needs for you to have a great time at Disney's Hollywood Studios.
