David Beckham is no stranger to insults. He received a barrage of abuse after his red card against Argentina in the 1998 World Cup, and once whilst playing for Real Madrid he called a linesman "hijo de puta" which roughly translates to "son of a prostitute". Unsurprisingly, he received a red card for his language.

The best insult directed at Becks came from a fellow Manchester United #7 however. George Best is infamous for quotes, and when asked his opinion on the then-England captain, Best responded:

"He cannot kick with his left foot, he cannot head a ball, he cannot tackle and he doesn't score many goals. Apart from that, he's alright."

A ringing endorsement indeed.
