10 Best Ever NBA Trades

9. Boston Celtics - Pierce, Garnett And Allen Form The 'Big Three'

Trading youth for age doesn't seem like a wise move on the surface, but it allowed the Boston Celtics to capture their first NBA Championship in over 20 years. With Paul Pierce looking increasingly likely to become one of the greatest players never to win a ring, the Celtics traded a slew of youngsters and future draft picks to the Supersonics and Timberwolves - landing Ray Allen and Kevin Garnett respectively. All three men were thought to be past their prime, but banded together to lead a long-unfancied team to the best record of the 2007/8 regular season. With Pierce as the fading talisman, Garnett dominating in the frontcourt, and Allen sinking three pointer after three pointer, they were able to march through the playoffs and narrowly defeat the arch-rival LA Lakers in six games to finally achieve glory. It was a victory which provided all three men with their first taste of championship gold, galvanising a trio of legacies which were once in jeopardy.
