Defenders are rarely as imposing as Arsenal great Tony Adams. That may be hard to believe after watching his eccentric and quite frankly bizarre tactical demonstration at Granada's training ground while in charge of the Spanish side (managing isn't for everyone...), but in his day, Adams was as intimidating as they come. Since playing the last of his 669 appearances for the Gunners, I think it's safe to say Arsenal's defence has never looked as strong as it did with Adams at the helm.

Not many have reaped the rewards of a one-club career quite like the Romford-born legend. Having captained the North-London side to title glory in three different decades, Adams' legacy as one of the greatest defenders and leaders the Premier League has ever seen is set in stone. That is of course literally the case for his status as an Arsenal legend, after a statue was erected outside the Emirates in 2011 to celebrate his illustrious career.

Alongside Steve Bould, Lee Dixon and Nigel Winterburn in the league's most famous back-line, Adams' performances and commitment to the red and white of Arsenal established his reputation as a top one-club man.
