Against all odds.

In the quarter of a decade since its creation, UFC has seen its fair share of phenomenal fighters. Stars such as Conor McGregor and Ronda Rousey have shot MMA into mainstream popularity. Just a quick look at the UFC Hall of Fame and you are inundated with legend after legend from the ever expanding world of mixed martial arts.

However, not every fighter has had it easy. With a roster so big, and with so many fight nights a year it is impossible to make stars out of everyone. Some, like Sage Northcutt and Paige Van Zant seem to have been given every opportunity to become stars but have lost key fights, and in doing so, lost a section of their fanbase as well.

In contrast, others entered with no expectations on their shoulders usually against massively overmatched opponents yet scored miraculous victories writing their own star-making story.

These scrappy, unfancied competitors defied the odds and shot themselves all the way to the top, making for some of the most spectacular victories in UFC history.

10. Randy Couture (Vs. Chuck Liddell)

After a string of inconsistent results and two heavy TKO losses to Josh Barnett and Ricco Rodriguez, Couture made the decision to move to light heavyweight in an attempt to save his career.

His first match at the new weight was against none other than ten fight win streak and all round hard man, Chuck Liddell. Couture was 39 at this point and it was thought that a loss to Liddell would send him into retirement.

There was no sign of a weight issue during the fight, Couture took the middle of the cage early on and stayed there throughout the fight. Between takedowns and punches, he landed a lot of knees to the body, all in an attempt to slow Liddell down.

As both men were tiring in the third, Couture shot for a double and ended up in full mount. From there, he picked his shots got the TKO stoppage. After the fight, Couture stayed at 205lb, going on to lift the belt later that year.
