2. Behind the Curtain: Football In Eastern Europe: Travels In Eastern European Football Jonathan Wilson
Jonathan Wilsons second entry on this list is part football book, part travel book and part social history lesson. In his travels through Eastern Europe he looks at football before and after the fall of communism in the region and comes across some incredible stories along the way. Such is the passion with Wilson covers the subject, it is evident that Eastern European football is close to his heart. There are times where he almost seems nostalgic for the good old days of football behind the Iron Curtain; crooked referees, interfering politicians and the like. Perhaps the only criticism of the book is that Wilson does not cover certain countries in Eastern Europe you may have expected him to, but the countries he does write about are brought vividly to life through his sheer enthusiasm for his subject matter.
