10 Football Books You Must Read Before You Die

7. Managing My Life: My Autobiography €“ Sir Alex Ferguson

Published in 2000, Sir Alex Ferguson€™s autobiography is essential reading for anyone trying to get a handle on the most successful manager in English football history. From his playing days where he suffered crushing disappointment when playing for the club he supported, Rangers, to his humble beginnings in management at East Stirlingshire and ending with Manchester United winning the Treble in 1999, Managing my Life takes the reader on a journey like no other in football. While it will not be everyone€™s cup of tea, as a demonstration of what hard work can lead you to achieve, there are few football books its equal. There are anecdotes aplenty as well as some score settling from Ferguson in this book, which make it hugely entertaining. Perhaps the greatest football autobiography to date, it is far superior to his most recent book and if you can get past the Manchester United element of the book, it is a hugely rewarding read.
