10 Football Teammates Who Absolutely Hated Each Other
5. Oliver Kahn & Jens Lehmann
If crude pettiness is what you're looking for, you've come to the right place. Oliver Kahn and Jens Lehmann's longstanding rivalry is built on the kind of immature nonsense you'd normally associate with a school playground, not two of the most decorated goalkeepers of their generation.
The duo were major international rivals. They often featured in the same German national squad throughout their respective careers, fighting for the number one jersey. A guaranteed starter for several years, Kahn often came out on top, but this changed when Jurgen Klinsmann was appointed manager prior to the 2006 World Cup.
Lehmann took his rival's spot, and Kahn was furious, openly attacking Klinmann's decision in the media. The outspoken Jens snapped back, and the war of words grew increasingly personal, with Lehmann eventually stooping so low as to attack his foe's barmaid girlfriend in the media. It never really diffused, either: Kahn continued taking shots at Lehmann after retiring in 2008, mocking the Arsenal stopper for losing his starting spot to Manuel Almunia, then laying into him when he returned to help the Gunners in 2011.
