Despite enjoying an illustrious career on the pitch, David Batty has disappeared from football since his retirement from the game in 2004.

Batty once explained that despite enjoying several momentous occasions during his career that it never took long for huge moments such as playing for his country to become another run of the mill match, even going as far as to say playing in the 1998 World Cup was just another international match in a different country.

But maybe that's the infamous penalty miss against Argentina talking...

The cherry on top of the cake came when Batty was the only player from Blackburn's 1995 Premier League-winning campaign not to attend a celebration to mark the twentieth anniversary of the landmark achievement. Though it is worth noting that, even at the time, he refused a medal after feeling like he didn't sufficiently contribute to the team's success after spending much of the season injured.
