The Liverpool European Cup winner arrived in London in 1982, Chelsea boss John Neal looking to utilise the full backs experience, having already managed him at Wrexham. The side were sitting uncomfortably in the second division, with further relegation into the third division a real possibility. Jones quickly adapted to the Blues style of play and after a short period of uncertainty among the fans became a favourite in the Stamford Bridge terraces. The defender helped the team survive the drop and remain in the second division that season. The tough-tackling Welsh international was a key player in the side that avoided relegated and later gained promotion back into the first division. Jones tough-tackling determination helped sure up a defence in need solidity, and he would often rouse the fans before games to motivate the squad. However, when John Hollins took the reins from Neal, selling Jones to Huddersfield Town was one of his first moves. This ended the full backs time at Stamford Bridge, regardless of the immense backing from fans. The Welshmen joins a long line of memorable defenders to have worn the Chelsea shirt, and despite being a Liverpool fan he continued to support the London club long after his departure.
An admiration for the arrogant personalities in football. Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Diego Simeone, even Joey Barton. If you were to ask who I'd rather have in my team, Messi or Ronaldo? The latter.
