9. Dana White Thought Women's MMA Wouldn't Draw

Ronda Rousey is UFC's biggest brand star in 2014 and Dana White is probably her biggest cheerleader. If you listen to him nowadays talking about how Ronda could beat Floyd Mayweather in a fight you'd think White was the greatest spokesperson ever to happen for women in MMA. How astonishing then to know that White just a few years ago said this - "I'm not a huge fan of women fighting. Period. Not to say that I don't acknowledge that there are amazing female athletes out there in every sport." His reason for not wanting to promote women's fights in the UFC is because he felt people didn't want to watch women getting beat up and bleeding. In 2011 he was outright asked when women would arrive in UFC and he replied "Never". Fast forward three years and imagine where the UFC would be right now if White's stance still stood. Rousey is his number one star and without her he would be producing a far less interesting product. Sure they have Jon Jones who is perhaps equal to Rousey's fame, but then you don't see him shooting films with Sylvester Stallone. How crazy to think White was so against something which is a short time later defining his brand.
