The Count, Wolfy The Limestone Cowboy, Pecker, Fingers, The Matchstick, Mad Monk and Martial Dartist - just some of the nicknames that have flowered from the world of darts in the last fifty years. Not everyone is allowed a nickname (a certain level of sporting ability must be demonstrated first) but when granted the honour it is de rigueur to emblazon the back of your shirt with your new moniker, preferably in lurid pink outlined with silver and surrounded by corporate sponsors. Often the nickname references a unique playing style (Kevin 'The Artist' Painter), sometimes a player's geographical origins (Mario 'The Dutch Robot' Robbe) and occasionally notable physical features (Andy 'The Pieman' Smith).
