10 Most Severe NFL Suspensions Ever

1. Art Folz - Life

Art Folz' scheming landed him with a lifetime ban in 1925 after some shifty work to swing the Championship race back in favour of the Chicago Cardinals. In that time, the team with the best regular season record was declared champions, meaning some teams would schedule games against easier opponents to gain an advantage. Folz went one step further and convinced a selection of high school players to play on the Milwaukee Badgers team under fake names. This ensured a huge gulf in ability and size, and the Cardinals won 58-0 with Folz scoring a trio of TDs. To add to the controversy, the Pottsville Maroons - who were dominant throughout the season - were suspended by the league for playing an exhibition game in the territory of the Frankford Yellow Jackets. With the Maroons out of contention, the Cardinals eased their way to become champions, and despite Folz' wrongdoing and suspension, the Cardinals are still listed as the 1925 Champions in the NFL Hall Of Fame.
