Trae Waynes has come under wide-spread scrutiny ever since the 11th overall pick of the draft posted a quicker 40-yard dash time (4.31) than he did for his 20-yard shuttle (4.39). It's essential for the cornerback to have that change of pace and direction if he is to fulfil his potential, but Waynes surrendered 113 yards and a touchdown on seven targets in a game against Oregon last week which has called into question whether he can actually succeed at the top. The Vikings have taken a massive gamble, and although initial reports suggest he is impressing during practice, it remains to be seen whether he can do it in the NFL against elite opponents.
