4. Joseph Benavidez Vs. Zach Makovsky
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CrV0sCeyQCc Weight Class: Flyweight Number one ranked Joseph Benavidez would be a shoo-in for a title shot against Mighty Mouse in the UFC flyweight division were it not for the fact that he has already fought and lost to the champion twice. Which means Benavidez is the man you have to go through to earn a shot of your own at this point (well, it should mean that, but the UFC doesn't seem to want to gamble, as Benavidez is capable of clearing out potential contenders in an already weak division). Benavidez (234) takes on Zach Makovsky (196) in an odd bit of matchmaking here, as Makovsky is coming off a loss to John Dodson, but on the flip side, that means a loss to Benavidez doesn't eliminate a potential title contender. Benavidez will take a decision here, and continue waiting in limbo with the hopes that the UFC either finally gives him another crack at the champ, or that someone else steals the title and opens up the weight class. Benavidez has also been training with TJ Dillashaw for this fight, which has raised eyebrows due to the split between Dillashaw and Team Alpha Male, where Benavidez normally trains, but the flyweight has stated he's still part of Alpha Male, and it shouldn't be too much of a distraction.
