10 Reasons The "Fight Of The Century" Was Anything But

8. It Was Five Years Too Late

Mayweather-Pacquiao falling through was actually named the Event of the Year back in 2010 by Ring Magazine, and rightfully so. At the time, the bout would have actually meant something, and both fighters would still have been in their primes.

It would have been seen as "the best of the best" not "two guys who used to be the best" or even worse "a safe way for Floyd Mayweather to pick up one of the biggest wins of his career without really ever putting himself in danger."

There are some who will argue "better late than never" - and that's fine. Those fans are just happy to finally get to see two of the top fighters in the sport go at it. Yet when all is said and done, the fact that Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather are no longer the boxers they once were was painfully evident in the match, making it all the more obvious that for the fan's sake, this should have happened five years ago.
