10 Reasons The Yankees Vs Red Sox Rivalry Now Sucks

9. Technology Allows Us To Follow Other Teams

For years, fans€™ loyalty to sports team were directly affected by where they were located. That€™s because local television stations only played games for the local sports team. If you lived in or around Boston, the only games you could watch were Red Sox games (or Atlanta Braves games if you had TBS). These days, with satellite packages and 24-hour news networks, it€™s easier than ever to follow any team you want to. Fans in Boston don€™t necessarily have to follow the Red Sox and fans in New York don€™t necessarily have to follow the Yankees. In fact, some of the young fans today follow the best players like Mike Trout, Bryce Harper, and Yasiel Puig, neither of whom play for the Yanks or Sox. With such an array of choices of teams to follow, many fans may choose to follow teams other than the Yanks or Sox, which means the rivalry won€™t be as feverish among the die-hards in the coming years.
