10 Sports Deaths That Were Caught On Tape

8. Dwain Weston Skydives Into Royal Gorge Bridge Rail At 90mph

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KF214wDC4L8 Weston, a 30-year-old computer analyst, was one of the innovators of wing suit flying. From Queensland, Australia, Weston was an accomplished skydiver and BASE jumper and he was the president of the Australian BASE Association. He is credited with adding many acrobatic moves to the world of skydiving and pushing the sport of wing suit flying to new levels. Dwain was participating in the Go Fast Games, an invitational BASE jumping tournament, in Canyon City, Colorado. On October 5, 2003, Weston was involved in a stunt with another skydiver wearing a wing suit. The plan was for Weston to fly over the Royal Gorge Bridge and the other skydiver was supposed to fly under it. Sadly, the stunt didn't work out and Weston slammed into the rail on the bridge at 90 mph (160 kph) while spectators, including children, watched in horror. The impact severed his leg and he fell almost 300 feet (90 m) to the rock bed below.
