10 Spurs Players Who Threw A Major Strop

4. Pascal Chimbonda

It was an act of childishness that wouldn€™t have looked out of place in an U11€™s match on a Sunday morning - all that was missing was an embarrassed father grabbing the boy by the shoulders and giving him a stern talking-to. With Pascal Chimbonda having been substituted in the 2009 Carling Cup final clash with Manchester United, the French full-back€™s reaction was to slowly trudge off the Wembley pitch and stride straight down the tunnel, refusing to acknowledge his replacement. To add insult to injury, Spurs were losing at the time, and didn€™t need a petty right-back eating up any more of their time with a slow-motion exit. It was an act of immaturity and petulance, but could one be really surprised with this coming from a player who played an entire 90 minutes at his previous club with a transfer request stuffed down his sock? Chimbonda would apologise for his spoilt behaviour upon the fulltime whistle, but his words would fall on deaf ears, with boss Juande Ramos declaring that he would be gone by the end of the season. The 28 year old defender would openly admit that he laughed at Ramos€™ request for him to play in the centre of defence, sparking more question marks surrounding his professionalism. Needless to say, the Spanish boss kept his word at the end of the season.
