Steve Bruce has always been a risk-taker in the transfer window, a characteristic that Sunderland could have probably done without in the summer of 2011. His adventurous ways brought South Korean striker Ji Dong-Won to the club on the back of a strong Asian Cup performance. After a few games it became clear that Ji wasn't a forward of Premier League quality, although he proved himself the unlikeliest of heroes on New Year's Day 2012, clumsily rounding Joe Hart to score a last minute winner over Manchester City. He was loaned out to Augsburg, where he somehow impressed enough to secure a move to - of all teams - Borussia Dortmund. However, he never made a first team appearance.
