Signing a player formerly ridiculed as the biggest laughing stock of your local rivals definitely must go down as a strange signing. Titus Bramble moved from Wigan to Wearside alongside Steve Bruce, a move greeted with cries of despair at the Stadium of Light (and howls of laughter at St. James' Park).
