10 Talking Points Behind UFC 176's Cancellation

5. The Strange Context In Saying Postponement Instead Of Cancellation

http://youtu.be/8Xea1SH58mo On Fox Sports 1, Lorenzo Fertitta was asked about UFC 176 and what was going to happen with the fighters on the card? Everything seemed fine, until he said the event was postponed. Now postponement would mean that you are delaying an event, but will be holding it again in the near future with the same fighters in the same venue. We've seen every fight from that card besides the main event now dispersed onto several Fox Sports 1 events or UFC 177. The event has been clearly cancelled, yet Fertitta was adamant in saying the card was postponed. I'm not sure if this is a case of them not wanting to swallow their pride. Obviously injuries happen, but once again the lack of depth is apparent. He was asked about their being too events, yet denied that wasn't the case. Eventually will hear more about their agenda in putting on so many events. Regardless of how you feel about the situation and the possible issue of over-saturation, Fertitta's choice of saying postponement was silly.
