10 Things Paolo Di Canio Wants You To Forget

5. Swindon Town Had To Change The Locks After He Left

After a very public falling out with the club's board, Di Canio tendered his resignation at Swindon Town citing unreasonable working conditions, the sale of players, and the failure of the club to secure new owners. All things considered though, he'd actually done a pretty good job at the club and guided them to promotion in only his first full season in charge. Not to have his personal legacy tarnished by the way things ended though, Di Canio returned to the club two days later. Not during the day for a clear-the-air meeting though, but in the middle of the night to break into his old office and steal some things he'd decided he was going to miss. Using his old set of keys he was caught on CCTV entering the club's County Ground and removing all the photographs of himself that were hanging on the walls. When the incident was discovered the next morning the club immediately had all the locks changed on the doors and the entrance codes changed on the alarm system. Deciding the whole situation would be best forgotten for everyone, the owners covered the cost of the repairs themselves and took no further action against Di Canio.
