https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NIdMXe9xDsU Chael Sonnen once again made news in the MMA world this week, but for all the wrong reasons. Sonnen had been asking to fight Pride-legend Wanderlei Silva for over a year. The two had called each other out multiple times but apparently at first Wanderlei was reluctant to sign the contract and give the fans the fight they were dying to see. After endless months of back-and-forth verbal altercations between the two a lot of which has been documented on YoutTube the fight was finally given a date; May 24th 2014. It was set to be the co-main event of UFC 173; however, the fight was then moved to the finale of The Ultimate Fighter Brazil just 11 days after it was announced. A couple of months down the line and the fight was moved yet again to UFC 175. This is where the whole situation starts to get messy and somewhat confusing. Wanderlei is forced to withdraw from the fight for as we eventually found out refusing to take a random drugs test. The Axe Murderer claimed that he didnt take the test because the men came from a different organisation than what he is used to and was presented with a contract in English (being Brazilian, Wanderleis first language is Portuguese) and as he didnt have his lawyers present he point blank refused. It is shocking that in 2014 such an important part of fair conduct in MMA is still officiated by seemingly random bodies. Many people didnt believe Wanderleis story and it didnt help that Dana White was claiming that the Brazilian literally ran out of the gym. Of course Chael was all over this and said he was done with the Wanderlei fight and that, stupid people say stupid things. Chaels front as the Godfather of integrity broke down this week as he went a step further than his rival and ironically failed his random drugs test for two illegal substances. Sonnen has addressed this issue and claimed he didnt know the substances were banned. Sonnen, much like Wanderlei, does not have many sympathisers at all. The two substances he was caught using are allegedly to help promote natural testosterone production, however they are also used to help hide steroid use. As yet, the only punishment to be issued to Sonnen is his removal from the UFC 175 card. Wanderlei Silva meanwhile, has hired a lawyer to help with his issues with the NSAC while the seemingly cursed scrap between the two fighters seems to have finally been cancelled it seems their scuffle on TUF is the most we'll ever see of Wanderlei's wild striking taking on Chael's powerful wrestling.
