10 Things To Watch For During UFC On FOX 12

8. Matt Brown's Ultimate Test

Now the headline may be misleading because Matt Brown has been through so much. He used to be a drug addict and nearly died from it at one point. His personal life was in shambles and didn't know what to turn to. Eventually he found MMA as his light and used The Ultimate Fighter as his spark. That wasn't the end though. Brown had lost four out of his last five fights at one point. His career was on a teetering point and rumors began to spread about his possible release. The UFC granted him one last opportunity against Chris Cope at UFC 143. He didn't let them down and knocked Cope out in the second round. Six fights and five knockouts later, he's fighting for a title shot. His work ethic and savviness has made him into a fan favorite. We've heard him open up more in interviews, such as Joey Diaz's podcast. Everything has culminated to this career-defining moment for Brown. We've yet to see him against a true top contender. Erick Silva and Mike Pyle are high level fighters, but they aren't on the elite level like Robbie Lawler. Lawler is far more well-rounded and responds to taking punishment far better. Brown always tries to dictate the pace and drag fighters into his style of slugfests. I'm confident that Lawler will not hesitate in trading punches and kicks with Brown. That's what makes this fight so special and why this will be Brown's ultimate test.
