10 Worst UFC Eye Pokes And Low Blows Ever

Broken rules that lead to detached retinas and shattered cups.

Ufc Eye Poke A UFC fighter stepping into the octagon has plenty to worry about. He or she can be punched, kicked, choked, broken, submitted and beaten to a pulp, and this is all within the rules of the sport. While eye gouges and low blows are not legal in the UFC, they are not highly punished infractions. In fact, it usually takes the second, if not the third repeated violation of the rule to warrant deduction of a point. This would allow any reasonable strategist to assume their fighter is allowed one eye gauge and one groin shot per match. Compare it to say a foot fault on a serve in tennis. If you wanted to purposely serve it out of bounds, it is within your right under the rules of the game. Obviously, both strikes, the groin and eye gauge, if thrown singular, should not lead to a point deduction. Yet any fighter who gets both poked in the eye and hit in the groin would have much more difficulty winning the fight. This allows certain fighters to live outside the realms of fair play relatively unharmed by the bending of the rules. In fact, in more instances than not, it is the person who committed the infraction that goes on to win the match. When a foul turns the tide of a fight, it causes the most serious injury to fairness. Based on the rules of fairness and the sheer brutality of the infraction, here are the top ten eye pokes and low blows in UFC history.

10.EYE POKE: Mike King vs Eddie Gordon - TUF 19 Episode 8

In the eighth episode of The Ultimate Fighter 19, Team Penn fighter Mike King took on Team Edgar€™s Eddie Gordon. After a fairly even first round, King took a brutal eye gouge in the second. It was clear that he could not see out of the injured eye, but the fight was allowed to continue. King gutted it out with only one good eye but there was no hiding how much the eye gouge had taken out of him. The rest of the fight was a snooze fest and as if to add insult to injury, Dana White said after the fight that neither of them fought like they really wanted it. So let€™s recap what the eye gouge cost King: the fight, the tournament, the respect of his potential boss, his chance at a high paying future living his dream€.oh yeah, and the sight from one eye. King didn€™t actually lose sight in the eye but you get the point.
