12 Players You Totally Forgot Played For Sunderland

6. Calum Davenport

Calum Davenport's story is another weird tale. He made a great impression in the early 00s with Coventry, but after his 75 league appearances in the Midlands, he never made more than 20 for any of his seven professional clubs, with Sunderland being his last. He recovered from a fractured neck while at West Ham, so his recovery was miraculous enough, and at Sunderland he rarely put a foot wrong. However, upon his return to West Ham, he was charged with assaulting his sister, before Davenport and his mother were stabbed in the legs by two attackers. The defender's career rolled to an end, though he did played for Elstow Abbey amateur side where he was expelled after allegedly assaulting a teammate. He played for Sunderland, but its easy to forget him despite his colourful off-field troubles.
