12 Ways To Get Into UFC

2. Hometown Heroes

TwitterTwitterSometimes, it€™s a little difficult to get into a sport without having someone to properly support. Let€™s face it: no one gets into football and doesn€™t support one particular team. You either support your hometown€™s team or another you€™re affiliated with in some way (provided you€™re not a glory hunter). Of course, if you€™re an idiot you€™ll have watched Green Street and decided to become a West Ham fan because you think it makes you €˜hard€™ but regardless, there€™s always a team or an individual you€™ll support to heighten your emotional investment in the sport. People have their favourite fighters in MMA too and it€™s much easier to get behind a guy who€™s from the same place as you are. After all, you€™ve both walked the same streets, eaten the same sort of food and thrown up in the same dingy club toilets after too many drinks on a night out. Unfortunately, the hometown heroes from the UK are few and far between but we have a few up and comers from various cities in the UK so there should be someone for everyone so to speak. The best active fighter of English origin in the UFC is Michael Bisping, one of the promotion€™s greatest heels. Bisping is noted for being involved in some of the best rivalries in UFC history. If he was from anywhere else we€™d probably hate him, but the Manchester-native€™s aggressive, in-your-face style forces us Brits to get behind him.
