2. Paul Lambert
Rumours are already circulating that Lambert is the man Lerner and his board want. The Scotsman has done a sterling job at Carrow Road, surpassing all expectations with a hard working team who have also shown some good play at times. After his Colchester side thrashed Norwich 7-1, Lambert stepped on to the Canary perch and turned the side around immediately, securing back to back promotions. Under his management Grant Holt has been linked with an England call up, John Ruddy likewise, while the likes of Aaron Wilbraham and Russell Martin have performed well above the level of their reputations. Lambert can be a bit dour and, well, boring in his press conferences, and while Norwich have performed well questions might be asked whether he can return Villa to the heady heights the club once enjoyed. However, Lambert is a Champions League winner lets not forget. Aston Villa would be a step up in managerial terms and Lambert has shown he is not afraid to move in the interests of his career, but it would represent something of a gamble for Lerner.
